Abstract:

Sleep is a fundamental biological process essential for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. With the rising prevalence of sleep disorders globally, there is increasing interest in non-pharmacological approaches, including nutritional strategies, to enhance sleep quality. This critical review explores the emerging evidence on the role of therapeutic nutrition in the management of sleep disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and circadian rhythm disturbances. Key dietary components including macronutrients, micronutrients, functional foods, and dietary patterns are examined for their impact on sleep regulation mechanisms.
